Lake Orta
Lake Orta, separed from Lake Maggiore by Mottarone Mount, is considered one of the most romantic Italian lakes.

Orta is located in front of San Giulio Island, with its romanesque basilica is an important religioius attraction of Piedmont.
Another famous town is Omegna. In August, on the day of San Vito (the town’s patron saint), Omegna is the venue of a truly amazing event, the World Fireworks Championship. The fireworks reflecting in the lake's waters create a spectacular effect.
There are also several hiking and mountain biking trails throughout the lake area.
